While the number of structure fire is decreasing, civilian fire deaths are on the rise - meaning we must get better and faster at conducting primary searches.

Residential Primary Search is a 8-hour hands on training designed to sharpen search fundamentals, improve communication, and ensure every firefighter has a plan when seconds matter.

This course focuses on maximizing efficiency in search operations within the critical first 10 minutes of a fire.
Students will learn and perform:
-
Oriented and split search techniques
-
Vent-Enter-Search (VES)
-
Hasty searches as part of an initial arriving engine company
-
Simple drags for effective victim removal (head-and feet-first)
-
Victim location tendencies and survival time factors

Through real-time reps and scenario-based training, firefighters will gain the skills and confidence to execute an aggressive search.
